Another benefit of the graphical CSK, operators can display menu cards at any station with the push of a keypad or touch screen button.  Operators use menu cards to ensure consistency, reduce training, and ease the introduction of new products and staff.  Electronic menu cards also cut down on cost and clutter associated with printing and distributing hard copy recipe information.

Advanced, effective table service automation

Similar to using QSR’s ePic KDS in a table service environment, the CSK simplifies kitchen management and eliminates the need to print costly paper or call out orders from a central kitchen location to improve food quality, table turns, and customer satisfaction – getting out hot food hot, cold food cold, and getting it out quickly.  With QSR’s unique delay routing functionality, individual items are routed based on cook times to specific preparation stations in the kitchen.  Changes made to each item at each preparation station – such as fired, cooking, prepared, and redo – are simultaneously indicated at the expeditor station at the order level, ensuring servers and managers know with a glance the status of their items and orders.  Once orders are completed in the kitchen, they are automatically moved to the front of the expeditor view. 

In addition to the graphical capabilities of the CSK, the CSK’s patent-pending Dynamic Routing functionality takes it a step beyond coursing and delay routing. Dynamic Routing continuously considers the status of the entire kitchen as well as each kitchen station that is impacted by the particular items on a particular order, and constantly makes adjustments as the CSK routes and displays the items for that order.

And QSR’s AccuPrep View gives table service operators yet another choice in how they can manage each individual kitchen station.  The AccuPrep View works in conjunction with QSR’s delay routing or Dynamic Routing functionality, ensuring that the item follows the process a chef follows.  The item moves through three different sections of the screen based on the real-time preparation status of the item, ending in a plating area that also shows the side item information.  The AccuPrep View reduces unused screen space, eliminates confusion, and ensures no new items are missed.  Most importantly, the AccuPrep View protects food quality because the chef maintains focus on items that require action when those items need action, also ensuring that side items are not plated too early.

As the heart of QSR’s comprehensive ConnectSmart solution – which also includes seating and wait list management and reservations – the CSK not only captures and uses production data within the kitchen, but also makes this critical data available to the entire restaurant.  For example, ConnectSmart Hostess relies on real-time kitchen performance to accurately quote wait times.
