QSR’s ePic Kitchen Display Xpress (KDX) software offers the most commonly used kitchen functionality in a quick service environment through a simplified configurator for up to six display stations. Designed for multi-unit, small to medium, and independent quick service operators who do not require the extensive features available with QSR’s robust and flexible ePic KDS, users of the ePic KDX gain rapid configuration and implementation at a reduced cost, as well as an easy upgrade path to the ePic KDS should business requirements advance in the future.
Answer Quick Service Needs With a streamlined feature set designed specifically to enable quick service operators to increase speed and efficiency, the KDX offers powerful routing and display options that the user can easily define for each display station through a simplified configuration tool. Operators can configure up to eight destinations, such as eat-in, take-away, and drive-thru. In addition to choosing from a preset list of routing and bumping options, the user can select a light or dark color scheme. Routing options include routing based on terminal number, routing category, or destination.
The KDX also offers a customised summary table to ensure key information is summarised and displayed in a manner most effective for the specific operation. Additional configuration options include the ability to display orders on the fly, on total, or one item back. Users can define priority and rush time values, turn on or off consolidation, and set text labels for general, order state, and side items. Header information always includes the terminal number, transaction number, and destination.
Easy, Rapid Configuration
An XML-based system, the KDX offers a highly intuitive, wizard driven configuration tool that guides users step-by-step through the entire set up process. Each of the six available KDX kitchen display station views can be set up based on five different view options, including: 4 by 1, 4 by 2, 5 by 1, or 5 by 2. Additionally, users can share a screen for managing more than one kitchen function, choosing to configure half of the screen in a 4 by 1 view with the other half in a 5 by 1 view. For instance, an operator may choose to maximise labour efficiency by assembling eat-in and drive-thru orders at one split screen view during slower periods.
Access to Production Information All actions within the KDX are time-stamped and captured, and can be easily extracted in text based formats for use with third-party reporting applications. Speed of service information is also displayed in real-time on each station view. This critical data is an excellent tool for in-store managers, as well as an effective means to measure performance. By comparing speed of service information to sales and revenue, productivity problems can be pinpointed and eliminated, helping to improve profit.
